Before founding Lumiooi, founder Roberta Norris was an apartment renovation designer. In one project, a client hesitated due to the price of lighting fixtures, opting for less aesthetically pleasing options that negatively impacted the ambiance of the space. This experience haunted Roberta Norris, leading to the serendipitous creation of Lumiooi.
BEHIND THE SCENE
Roberta Norris has always strived to create high-quality, well-designed products, hoping to bring warm, sweet lighting and a sophisticated, cool atmosphere to every home. Roberta Norris believes this will ultimately be achieved.
In this era overwhelmed by the glow of screens, we seem to have forgotten the original form of light. It was once the flickering flame of a fireplace, the swaying candlelight, the gentle presence that accompanied our contemplation and conversation. We began to pursue a light that is neither glaring nor intrusive. The team traveled throughout the East and Northern Europe, drawing inspiration from ancient paper lanterns and modern Danish design. We understand that a good lamp isn't necessarily the brighter the better, but rather one that blends seamlessly into the space, enhancing the warmth of people and objects, and allowing one to return to inner peace.
Regarding the light source, we collaborated with top-tier optical laboratories to repeatedly fine-tune the 4000K warm white light, closely resembling the light one hour after sunrise. It boasts an extremely high color rendering index (Ra≥95), faithfully reproducing the original colors of objects while eliminating any visible flicker, ensuring comfortable viewing even after prolonged reading.
In terms of craftsmanship, we embrace the mark of handcraftsmanship. Every curve of the lamp is not the result of cold stamping, but rather hand-hammered, bent, and welded by our artisans. We insist on using traditional brass hot-coloring and modern powder coating techniques, not only to present a rich texture ranging from vintage to avant-garde, but also to ensure the colors remain vibrant over time. We never deliberately conceal the weld points; instead, we polish them into unique decorations, like medals, honestly showcasing the creation process of the item.
In design, we pursue the drama of light and shadow. Clean, geometric lines form the lamp's sleek, understated form. But the real magic unfolds when it's turned on: light filters through carefully designed slits, casting sharp, rhythmic shadows on the wall; light strikes the frosted metal interior, diffused into a soft, diffused halo. We designed not just lamps, but sculptures of light and shadow.
